Arteza 120 Expert Colored Pencils Review | Panel Splicing Technique

Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting my blog. Today I’m reviewing the set of 120 Expert Colored Pencils from Arteza. They very generously sent me these colored pencils. I love trying out new art mediums, especially colored pencils. These pencils from Arteza are lovely. They are vibrant, easy to blend, and don’t break while you use them. (Free Swatch Chart Below!)

I revisited an old technique I used in a video a couple of years ago, and I love it. I call it panel splicing. I colored my image on pink card stock, and on kraft card stock. I love using colored pencils on colored card stocks! I then stamped the image again onto pink and kraft card stock, but this time I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. This gives you a beautiful tone-on-tone look.

It’s key to use a stamp positioner like the Misti, so you can stamp in exactly the same place on each panel. Then when you cut them apart, they will match up perfectly. I cut two panels at the same time using my Fiskars paper trimmer. I also cut out a 3/4 inch strip on the inside of the image, so I could replace it with a piece of gold card stock. This really makes it look elegant.

Below is a list of the Arteza colored pencils I used on both the pink and the kraft card stock:

Pink Rose: Pink Macaron, Fruit Punch, Magenta, Garnet Red

Cream Rose: Cream, Marmalade Orange, Turmeric Yellow, Rust Orange

Blue Flower: Periwinkle Blue, Ube Purple, Amethyst Purple

Yellow Flowers: Sunflower Yellow, Dark Chocolate Brown

Rounded Leaves: Lime Green, Fern Gree, Jade Green

Thin Leaves: Moss Green, Olive Green

Rose Leaves: Matcha Green, Moss Green

I love the sentiments that came in this Hero Arts set Called Togetherness Flower Bouquet! They were perfect for this card technique where you combine two different panels together.

Spellbinders Cut & Emboss Folders | Kyoto & Lahaina

Hello! Thanks for stopping by. I have some fabulous new crafty products to show you!  Spellbinders has new embossing folders in their shop! I love creating cards using embossing folders; they provide so much fun texture and dimension. However, the folders I’m using today also cut as they emboss!

The first Cut & Emboss Folder I’m using is called Kyoto, named after a city in Japan. Don’t you love the beautiful fans it embosses onto the paper? To me the look is also reminiscent of the 1920’s Art Deco era with its clean, geometric shapes.

I chose a very pale pink piece of card stock to emboss. To accentuate the design, I blended some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink across the panel with a foam blender. The raised edges pick up the ink and really bring it to life. I matted my panel with a piece of  gold mirror card stock to show off the diamond-shaped cuts.

I embossed it again with another piece of pink paper and cut out one of the fans, so I could showcase it on the front of the card. I also added a little tassel with some baker’s twine.

On my second card project I used the folder called Lahaina named after a city in Hawaii. I love all the gorgeous leaves leaves on this folder!

To create my card I used a piece of bright green card stock. I blended on more Distress Oxide Inks to bring out the texture. The colors I used are Crushed Olive, Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers. I used white card stock behind this panel, and I love how brightly the white shows through.

Coloring Skin Tones with Copic Markers | Not 2 Shabby Design Team Project | The Greeting Farm: Miss Anya Buckles Stamp

This is my design team stamp from the Not 2 Shabby Shop for the month of February, and I adore these darling images! I decided I wanted to color them in with my Copic markers. I love coloring various skin tones and hair with these alcohol markers. For each girl I’m using a different skin tone combination and hair combination. The size of these stamp images are great for practicing coloring skin tones and hair with your Copic markers or  whatever medium you choose.

I colored in this card with the following list of Copic markers:

For the back ground I used Victorian Velvet Distress Ink over a brick stencil. I distressed this panel by flicking water onto it, and then dabbing it up with a tissue. I put the stencil back on and ink blended more of the Victorian Velvet ink to make the water distressing darker.

Shaker Card Techniques using Arteza Holographic Chunky Glitter & Foam Tape

Hello everyone, Happy Friday! I love creating shaker cards, and I created a few with some fun products from Arteza. Today I’m using their beautiful Holographic Chunky Glitter and Foam Tape–the two most important ingredients for making shaker cards! I believe shaker cards are best when they are birthday shaker cards, so I made three–all using different techniques.

Card #1: Happy Birthday Balloons Card

Shaker elements don’t have to be very large. On my first card I used a small balloon die to create the windows for my shaker bits. I cut down the foam tape so that it would fit around the window. Make sure you take off the release paper to do this–it makes is easier to manipulate. I then spooned in the 3 different chunky glitters and sealed them in tight with a piece of card stock. I trimmed it down and added it onto my card base.

Card #2: Masculine Birthday Shaker Card

Stamping your sentiment right onto the acetate window is another way to add impact to your card. I used StazOn ink in black, but it comes in many colors. After you use this ink, you’ll need to clean it with StazOn Stamp Cleaner to clean off your stamps. (Link below)  Also, if you mis-stamp on the acetate, you can wipe off the ink from the acetate with rubbing alcohol and stamp again. This was an easy shaker card to put together because I didn’t need to manipulate the foam tape. I just put it down in straight lines. card2

Card #3: Word Sentiment Shaker Card

It’s really fun to create shaker windows behind your die cut sentiment. It make’s your sentiment sparkle in an unexpected and fabulous way. I cut down narrow strips of foam tape for this shaker element so that it would fit around my sentiment. I spooned in the Electra glitter and captured it with a piece of pale gray card stock. I then attached it to a piece of diagonal striped pattern paper, added some candle die cuts and stamped a small sentiment.

Arteza Products Review & Valentine’s Day Cards | Dimension & Texture with Adhesive Felt

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day. Arteza sent me some new products to try–products perfect for card crafting. They sent me their foam mounting tape, adhesive felt, and colored pencils. These are all products that I use often in my card crafting, and I was very excited to try out the Arteza brand.

I created two cards, but I used all all three products to create them. I guess the star of the show for these cards is the adhesive felt. I love crafting with felt, but I don’t like gluing it onto my projects–it takes ages for it to dry and adhere together. However, this adhesive felt from Arteza is a game-changer; it comes in lots of beautiful colors, and it has adhesive on the back. Felt can add some really fun texture and dimension to your cards. I was able to die cut this felt easily with my dies and Sizzix Big Shot machine. It was a blast to play with.

Card #1: Squeezable Hearts Card

To create my first card, I used a darling Pure Innocence stamp from My Favorite Things. I colored her in with Arteza’s colored pencils. (I have a video coming soon focusing just on these fabulous pencils.) Next, I stamped her arms and heart on the release paper on the back of a piece of pink felt and fussy cut it. I pulled off the release paper, stuck it over the heart on my image, and then colored and cut out her arms a second time. I used liquid glue to attach the girl’s arms over the heart. I thought it needed a few more felt hearts on the card to give it an added touch of fun.

Card #2: Felt Critter Hugger Card

To create this raccoon, I used a Lawn Fawn die set called Woodland Critter Huggers. You can create many critters with this one interchangeable set of dies. I thought the Raccoon, paired with the sentiment, “You Stole My Heart” would make the perfect card for Valentine’s day. This was a fast card to put together thanks to the adhesive on the back of this felt.

Trinity Stamps Mini Encouragement Cards | Not 2 Shabby Design Team Project February 2020

Hello everyone! I have some really top-notch products from Trinity Stamps that I’m focusing my design team project on today for the Not 2 Shabby Shop! This is my first time designing with Trinity Stamps products, but it’s certainly not going to be my last. The products that really grabbed my attention are their 3×4 stamp sentiments and the coordinating Slimline Fold & Frame Dies. Use the code N2S10 to get 10% of you purchase at the Not 2 Shabby Shop!!

Ninety percent of the time I prefer to create A2 sized cards (4 1/4 x 5 1/2); however, the cards I created using these products are mini cards (4×5), and I absolutely adore them! Trinity released 5 of these sentiment stamps which you can use to create mini cards, or regular A2 size cards. The sentiments and the fonts are just lovely!

The Slimline Fold & Frame Dies were really fun to use with these stamps because they cut out a perfect sized card base to fit these stamps–it even scores a line in the middle for easy folding. If you’re planning on picking up any of these products, be sure to use the Image7

Card #1: Chalkboard Hug Card

This stamp is my favorite of the set. I stamped out the sentiment onto a piece of black card stock using white pigment ink. I then colored in the sentiment with some polychromos colored pencils. To make the sentiment really pop off the paper, I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. You really don’t have to put a lot of time and effort into these cards to make them fabulous. Trinity Stamps has done most of the work for you.

Card #2:

I couldn’t get enough of this stamp, so I created another card with it. This time I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of kraft card stock. I used the coordinating Sending Monster Hugs die to die cut the word hug with different colors of card stock. I colored in the leaves, hearts, and other part of the sentiment with polychromos pencils and then adhered the letters dies onto my card front.

Card #3: Hug Window Card

On this card I die cut the word hug with the coordinating dies and place a piece of pattern paper behind it. I used foam tape to pop up my main panel. I also heat embossed the sentiment with more white embossing powder.

Card #4: Ink Blended Love Card

I heat embossed this sentiment with some clear embossing powder onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock. This card stock is great for ink blending because it has a smooth coating on it. To make the sentiment really pop, I added more colored pencils over the hearts and the love word.

Card #5: Copic Markers Better World Card

I love the graphics on this sentiment stamp! I had fun coloring it in with Copic markers onto a piece of Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink card stock. I’m loving this paper so far! I added some white Gelly Roll pen to create some highlights–they really helped the card pop!

I also created some mini envelopes for these cards using my We R Memory Keeper Punch Board. They are so fun and easy to make! Mailing out little encouragement cards like these would create a whole lot of happy in this world!

Chalkboard Cards Technique | SSS February Card Kit 2020 | Window Frames

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all having a fabulous day! I created a few cards with Simon Says Stamp’s February Card Kit! It’s called Window Frames, and I decided to focus on one technique–chalkboard cards! I love creating chalkboard cards because the images really look fabulous on the black card stock, and it involves colored pencils–my favorite art medium.

Card #1: Balloon Window Frame

On my first card I used my favorite frame from the stamp set! All the balloons are so darling! I planned on heat embossing the images with white embossing powder, but it’s easier to color in the image without the raised embossed lines getting in the way. So, I used Unicorn White pigment ink to stamp the image first.

I decided to color them in with all the rainbow colors. I used three colored pencils on each balloon to give them depth. I used some polychromos colored pencils, and I used many layers so the colors would really pop off of this black card stock. After my coloring was done, I then re-stamped the images with embossing ink, poured over the white embossing powder, and melted it with my heat tool. In the shaker pouches I used some Moonstone Chunky Glitter form Arteza–I wanted the glitter to have more shine than color, so it wouldn’t compete with the balloons.

Card #2: Heart Frame Card

I stamped out the heart frame using more Unicorn White pigment ink. I was having trouble coloring in the hearts because I couldn’t see where the hearts stopped and the frame began. To help this situation I drew in some lines around the rectangle. I used a #10 Gelly Roll pen and a ruler to do this. Then I colored in the hearts with red and pink polychromos pencils and a white Prismacolor pencil–the white Prismacolor pencil is better than the polychromos white pencil in my opinion. After all my coloring was done, I again embossed the image with white embossing powder.

Card #3: Flower Frame Thank You Card

I selectively stamped out the flower frame for this card. I wanted the frame to be on the edges on my A2 sized card. This is easy to do if you have a stamp positioner like the Misti. I stamped out one side, flipped over the paper, and stamped the other side. Again for this card I stamped first using white pigment ink, colored in my images, and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. My very last step was to dot my card with white Nuvo drops–this added a  little lightness to the card.
