Masculine Birthday Cards: Tips & Tricks

Welcome to the weekend! Hopefully you’ll find the time today to craft. Today I’m creating masculine birthday cards. I’ll show you my tips and tricks for designing these cards. I started by shopping my stash to find stamps, dies, pattern papers and cardstocks with a masculine vibe.

I created 5 cards, plus one bonus card.

Card 1

This one is my graphic card. I used a fun background stamp with dark brown ink and big, bold sentiments from different sets. I added accents with black and white twine-no bow, just a knot–and enamel dots.

Card 2

For card 2 I found a large, wonky birthday die in my stash and used the negative piece. I backed it with bright yellow cardstock to make the sentiment pop. The plaid embossing folder added interest to the background panel, and to bring out the pattern, I blended on some Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Ink. For pops of color I added red wonky stars. This is my primary colors card.

Card 3

You can’t go wrong with a funny image when creating a masculine card. This image comes from a set by Tim Holtz called, “Crazy Dogs.” I found a faux wood back ground stamp and stamped it down around my image with brown ink. I added subtle touches of color with some Prismacolor pencils. I again added pops of color with the big die cut sentiment and on the hat and color on the dog. For a finishing touch, I added Glossy Accents to the dog’s eyes.

Card 4

I used a speckled pattern paper for my next card and stamped a bold sentiment in the middle with black ink. I then added accent pieces using some birthday images. Instead of sequins, I stamped out some black dots using the same ink as the sentiment.

Card 5

I used another big and bold sentiment for card 5, and this time I stamped it onto a piece of vellum which I die cut with a tag die. The background is another pattern paper, and the vellum helped soften the pattern enough to make the sentiment legible. I used bakers twine on the tag–again, no bow, and some die cut starts.

Bonus Card

For the bonus card I used another funny image. I stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock as well as the party hat, balloon and sentiments. I love the funny sentiment of this card. This is a clean and simple cards with a lot of white space on it. I used Prisma color pencils to color in the images and more Glossy Accents on the eyes and the balloon.

You can watch my YouTube video below to see how I put these together.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful day!
