April 2020 – Jackie's Craft Table

Hello everyone! Welcome! Slimline cards are becoming so popular, and I’ve certainly joined the bandwagon. Trinity Stamps has some new fun products to help you create fabulous slimline cards. When I saw that they now have a wonky stitch die for slimlines, I knew I had to have it. I also picked up their Slimline Stripes Stencils (you get two in this set)–I love using stripes on my cards!

For my design team project for the Not 2 Shabby Shop, I created 3 slimline cards. I also used my design team stamp of the month called Petals & Pallets by Concord & 9th to stamp out all the pretty flowers for my cards. I have a 10% off coupon for you to use at the shop: NTS10

Card #1: Flower Pallets Card

I used the coordinating Petals & Pallets dies to cut out this darling pallet with white card stock. I then stamped the wood grain stamp over it with gray ink. I had fun stamping out a lot of flowers, and I added dimension to them with my Arteza colored pencils. This added a lot of depth to them. You can hardly see the pallets for all the flowers, but I love how this one turned out!

Card #2: Hydrangea Forever Friends Card

I used the slimline stripes stencil on my colored card stock. I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Ink over it, and this gave the card a subtle tone-on-tone look. I love the huge forever stamp from the Petals & Pallets stamp set, and it fit just perfectly at the top of the card. I added a bow around my hydrangeas and a few flower blossoms as accents.

Card #3: Grateful Daisies Card

I love stripes with florals, especially black stripes. I used the second stencil from this set and some Black Soot ink to create this panel. I used the pallet die again for this card. This time I cut it out with brown card stock and stamped it with brown ink. I popped up this die cut piece with Arteza foam tape. I also used foam tape behind two of the flowers. The sentiment fit perfectly between the black stripes.

Whimsical & Wild Jane Davenport Stamps using Watercolor Pencils

Hello everyone! I’m here again for Spellbinders, and I get to show you their new Jane Davenport stamps sets in the Whimsical & Wild line. The two sets I have are Elephant Dream and Horse Hug. All of the stamps in this line are so enchanting; there are nine of them.

I used watercolor pencils to paint these images. I wanted my cards to be soft and pastel and dream-like. The hot press watercolor paper also helped me achieve this. Hot press paper is very smooth. I had so much fun with these stamp sets! Now I have to get the other seven sets!

Card #1: Dream Big Card

I started off with the elephant card. I put down a light application of the watercolor pencils. Once everything was colored in, I pulled out a water-brush and blended the paints together. I used Arteza watercolor pencils; they melt out beautifully. I added more shadows and intensified the colors by grabbing the pigment right off the watercolor pencil. When the painting was dry, I even added another layer of color with colored pencils. However, I could have just used the same watercolor pencils. These watercolor pencils work great as colored pencils–no water required. I put a soft background around the elephant and the girl with green and blue watercolor pencils.

Card #2: Never Stop Dreaming Card

I love how these images are drawn! I colored in the horse with different gray tones from the elephant. For it’s mane, I used a brown and a purple together. I wanted to add a little magic to it. The girl’s hair was a lot of fun to color too! I went in with several layers of watercolor pencils on this panel and even ended up with a dry layer of the watercolor pencils. I used the same periwinkle blue watercolor pencil for the background in this card.

Spellbinders Flourished Fretwork Collection | Card Projects | April 2020

Today I’m crafting with some gorgeous new cutting dies and stamps from Spellbinders’ Flourished Fretwork collection! I love how intricate these dies are! I’m using two different sets from this collection. For the card on the left, I’m using Shapeabilities Sentimental Finery Etched Dies, and for the card on the right, I’m using All Occasion Sentiments Stamps and Dies Set. This set comes with some beautiful red rubber stamp sentiments. I had so much fun crafting with these beautiful sets!

Both Cards

Card #1: Just Saying Hello Card

The Sentimental Finery Dies Set comes with four dies. I cut them all out separately for my card, but there are many ways you can use them. The die cuts look gorgeous no matter what paper you use, but for my card I wanted to use bright colors mixed with a navy card stock. My favorite die from this set has to be the small rectangle die. It’s meant for threading ribbon through it, and that’s exactly what I did. I love it!

Card #2: Praying for You Card

For my second card I used the All Occasion Sentiments Stamps and Dies Set. This set comes with three dies and beautiful sentiment stamps for every occasion. The colors of my card center around the colors found in this piece of butterfly pattern paper. The card base is dark gray and the card stock behind the filigree die is light gray. I love how this bright green card stock I used on the filigree die looks with all the grays. This design would be fast and easy to mass produce in a variety of different card stocks.

Colored Pencils, Floral Cards, Not 2 Shabby

Adding Shading to Solid Stamped Images | Not 2 Shabby Design Team Project | April 2020

Welcome to my blog! I hope you are having a fabulous day! I’m stamping with solid floral stamps today. I love solid stamps because you get to color with ink. They look darling as is, but I took it one step further and added some shading to the flowers in two different ways.

The stamp set I’m using is from Concord & 9th, and it’s called Petals and Pallets. This is an older set, but it is gorgeous! You can pick it up at the Not 2 Shabby Shop. Here is a 10% off coupon code: N2S10 Link are below!

The first way I added shading is stamping the image with a light shade of ink and then tapping a darker color onto the edges of the stamp and stamping again. However, you need a stamp positioner for this technique.

The second way to add depth is color over the images with colored pencils. You don’t have to color over the whole thing, but just add darker colors where the shadows would be. I pulled out my polychromos colored pencils and deepened the color at the base of each petal. This really makes a flat image turn into something more interesting to look at, and it’s fun to do!

For my background for these flowers I stamped out the wood plank stamps. There are two of them in this set, so you can really mix up the faux wood grain pattern on your projects. I’ve mentioned before that I love flowers and stripes together. I am also loving flowers and faux wood grain together. The wood grain stamps in this set are so much fun to use!

Spellbinders, Spellbinders Small Die of the Month

Wedding Card using Spellbinders Small Die of the Month | April 2020

Hello everyone! I’m crafting with Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for April, and I never had so much fun with a set of dies! This set of cutting dies is so well thought out. It was made to coordinate with another set called Truckin’ Though the Seasons. However, I used only the dies that came in this month’s set. There are 16 dies in all, and my favorites are the ones that make up this adorable diamond ring, and the bow that you can easily turn into a daisy. Oh, and the word dies are fabulous too!!

SmDieApril3 Below you will see what the dies look like. You also get a heart balloon die with inserts that spell out the word, Just–as is Just Married. The sentiments in this set say Forever, Holidays, Married, and Happy. This set of dies is the 4th addition to a very popular series of dies. They are called, So Many Sentiments Etched Dies and Even More Sentiments Etched Dies, Truckin Through the Seasons.

With these dies you can also create Christmas cards. However, I needed more wedding cards for my stash, so that’s what I created. The picture below shows the shine of the metallic paper I used to cut out the ring dies. I also used silver glitter paper to cut out the diamond and a strip of paper down the side. This set was so much fun to play with!

Colored Pencils, Easter/Spring Cards, Embossing Folders, Floral Cards, in love arts shop

Spring Cards | Techniques & Inspiration using In Love Arts Shop Products | April 2020

Hello everyone! I have a lot of fun card crafting techniques to inspire you today! I’m using more fabulous products from the In Love Arts Shop, and I created five springtime cards using them. For each card I use a different technique. I had so much fun putting these together; I hope you are inspired to try some, if not all, of these techniques!

Card #1: Good Times Wave Card

All that this card involves is a lot of die cutting, but I love how it turned out. This wave die cut is a lot of fun to play with! I cut out two panels at the same time and kept switching out the colors. I covered a piece of white card stock with tape runner and paper pieced it all back together.

Card #2: Layer Stamping Peony Card

Layer stamping is so much fun to do, and it’s great to have stamps like this in your stash for the days you don’t feel like coloring. I love the painterly look of these peonies. I also used a scalloped die to cut out a pretty edge to the gray card stock. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.

Card #3: Tone-on-Tone Hello Spring Card

I love background stamps, and the delicate leaves on this one are so pretty. I had fun stamping it out several times and on several different colors of card stock. I cut them out into banners and adhered them down flat onto a kraft card stock panel. I used die cuts for my sentiment, and this card was done.

Card #4: Colored Pencil Flowers Card

I love big floral images, and I pulled out my Prismcolor pencils to color this in. I cut off two corners with the wave die and used some striped pattern paper behind it.

Card #5: Leaves Embossed Birthday Card

With embossing folders you can create some very fast cards. All I did on this card is emboss it, ink blend some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink onto the panel, and add a die cut sentiment. However, I decided to add another step–I used a very sharp Prismacolor pencil to color in some of the leaves around my sentiment. I also added some translucent enamel dots and Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter Pen over my sentiment, so maybe it wasn’t that fast after all–Lol!

Hello Cards using Arteza Metallic Gouache Paints & Giveaway | April 2020

Hello everyone! I’m playing with even more metallic paints from Arteza. This time it’s their metallic gouache. Gouache is a lot like watercolors except they’re more opaque and they dry matte. I have their set of 12 beautiful metallic gouache paints.

Card #1: Rainbow Tiles Card

On my first card I painted onto a piece a black card stock through a stencil called Tiles. Gouache paints are fairly thick, and I didn’t water it down at all. The paint did seep under the stencil a bit, but that was to be expected–it’s gouache, not texture paste.

I love how this panel turned out! The colors are bright and vibrant with a metallic gleam to it. I cut out my panel with a rectangle faux-stitched die and popped it up on my card with Arteza foam tape.

The sentiment cutting die comes from the In Love Arts Shop. (All of the links are below.) I cut this out with white card stock three times and glued them together to add a little bit of dimension to it.

Card #2: Hydrangea Hello Card

For this card I’m using one of my favorite stamps of all time–it’s an oldie, but a goodie! It’s called Mondo Hydrangea from Ellen Hutson. I painted it in with several different colors–that’s the magic of hydrangeas! I love the look of the painting when it’s dry–the matte metallic look is really stunning. I added some Nuvo Dream Drops to the centers of the flowers.

Stamping on Acetate | Spellbinders – FSJ Stamp of the Month | April 2020

Hello, my crafty friends! I hope you’re all staying happy and well! I’m very excited to show you the new Stamp of the Month from Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey. This stamp is called Bold Beautiful for obvious reasons. There are 14 stamps included in this set, and they are red rubber stamps. I adore red rubber stamps because they stamp out the delicate lines of the images so perfect and crisp. There is so much you could do with this set. Any art medium would be fun to use on these images, but they are all so beautifully drawn, you wouldn’t even need to color them in. SOM-APR20-Product-Pac

I love all of the gorgeously detailed floral images and that rectangle stamp is fabulous!! I’m sure we all have rectangle dies in our stashes, but it’s great to have a rectangle frame stamp–this can be used in so many fun ways.

To create my card I stamped out the rectangle frame and then the bold beautiful sentiment onto a piece of acetate using StazOn Ink. This ink comes in many colors, but I just stamped it out in black.

I then used some warm brown ink called Potter’s Clay Memento Ink to stamp out my patterned background. I randomly stamped out all the floral images from this set except the larger flower and leaves image–that one I stamped out twice on another piece of Desert Storm card stock. I colored in all my images with Moonlight Gelly Roll Pens. I need ed something bright so my images would really pop behind the acetate. After my coloring was complete, I fussy cut out my two flower and leaves images, popped them up with foam tape and adhered them onto the acetate.

To glue the acetate onto my floral pattern panel I added liquid adhesive behind the flower and leaves images. The acetate covers the whole front of my card and provides some fun shine to the card. It was really difficult to capture that in a photo, but if you watch my video you’ll see the fabulous shine.

Spellbinders April Card Kit Release & Card Projects |Weekend Fun 2020

Hello everyone! It’s time for Spellbinders’ April card kit! The card kit is called Weekend Fun. It’s a very eclectic kit this time–the elements range from old-fashioned cameos to peaches, bees, and fizzy drinks. You can do so much with this card kit, and they provide you with card-bases, tape, anything you could possibly need to create many gorgeous cards. It’s an all-in-one kit–even envelopes are included!

Card #1: Beautiful Cameo Card

I chose to use the cutting dies first. I love cameos! Look how pretty this silhouette is, and the necklace cutting die just pushes it over the top–so darling! I used a piece of navy blue card stock and one of the floral pattern papers behind my silhouette–the navy paper really makes the silhouette pop! No coloring involved, just cutting dies and paper. The sentiment is from the Die Cut Shapes pack.

Card #2: Everything’s Peachy Card

I really love this bold pattern paper. The green card stock matched it perfectly, so I used two cutting dies to cut out a frame. I surrounded the peach sticker with tiny flower die cut, and I cut up an oval frame die cut to create the leaves for my two flowers. This card was super fast and fun to put together.

Card #3: Hey You Flower Bouquet Card

For this card I used a piece of coral pattern paper to cover my card base. I then added a triangle of purple pattern paper in the corner. I covered my seam with a strip of gold metallic paper. I added on two sticker, some sequins, and this card was done!

Card #4: Old-Fashioned Cameo Card

I wanted to create a cameo card with a very old-fashioned feel to it. This piece of pattern paper did the trick. I also used Spellbinders’ new Hemstitch Rectangle dies to cut out the pattern paper. I love how the pink card stock behind the pattern paper peeks through the stitching! This time for the silhouette, I used the pale pink card stock. I glued on two more die cuts behind it to add a touch of dimension. I love her gold choker necklace!

Card #5: Retro Dog Card

This dog die cut shape is my favorite of them all! Look at his cute little face! I used a very retro-looking piece of pattern paper behind him, and glued on lots of extra little die cut shapes. The sentiment is one of the chipboard sticker.

Card #6: Bee Happy Beehive Card

One of my favorite techniques is to stamp my images on pattern paper and color them in with colored pencils. I used the retro looking paper again for this card. It provided an excellent base color for my beehive and bees. The cutting dies from this kit include dies to cut out this bee as well as some hexagons–I love that! I was too involved in playing with these cute stamps, and I didn’t plan ahead as to where I would put my sentiment. I ended up stamping it on a piece of peach card stock and tucking it under my beehive.

Card #7: Beehive Celebrate like You’re the Queen Card

I love the color combinations on this card. Purple and yellow are complimentary colors, but add in a blue background and you’ve got something really special! I had fun playing with the stamp set again and die cutting the bee and the hexagons. I stamped the images onto a piece of the peach card stock and colored them in with colored pencils.

Card #8: Hugs Card

All of the pattern paper from this kit is exquisite! I particularly love this painterly looking pattern. I adhered it to my card base leaving an 1/8 of an inch boarder around the sides. Next I glued on my hugs chipboard sticker–make sure to use glue behind these because the adhesive on the back isn’t very strong. I put two of the same butterfly die cut shapes together with a little bit of foam tape to make is dimensional.

Card #9: Queen Card

For this card I took inspiration from the example page from the kit. I like how they used strips of paper down the side of their card, so I did that on my card. The crown on top of the silhouette’s head is a die cut shape, and I there is a piece of pattern paper that complimented it perfectly. I also cut out the silhouette with gold metallic card stock and staggered it behind the white silhouette to add some shine to the piece.

Card #10: Yay Card

I added lots of my left over strips of card stock on the front of my last card base. It really is a great design to used up these left-over pieces. I glued down the yay chipboard stickers, and then for some reason, I couldn’t stop adding element to this poor card–lol! I really like how it started but not how it ended up. This is one of those–at least I had fun–cards.
