Hero Arts January Card Kit 2020 | Many Techniques & Cards

Hello and welcome to my blog! I adore the Hero Arts January card kit! It includes tons of beautiful dies, stamps, and sentiments. It’s perfect for creating Valentine’s day cards, but it can really be used to create cards for multiple occasions. The sentiments included give you a lot of options. However, the main reason I purchased this kit was for the darling mini envelope die–I absolutely love it! I created 9 cards using this kit this time. The footage for my 10th card disappeared, so it’s almost a 10 cards, 1 kit blog and video.

2020 Hero Arts Jan Kit THUMB

Card #1: Hello Friend Card

For my first card I had to use my favorite products from this kit: the envelope die and the kraft card stock. I used some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink to distress the edges of the envelope.  However, I could have added more distressing; it doesn’t show up very well in the photo. I die cut lots of flowers using Neenah Solar White 110# card stock, and I colored them in very quickly using more Distress Oxide Inks and a foam blender.

Card #2: Envelope & Hearts Card

I couldn’t get enough of the envelope die, so I used it again on card #2. I used some heart dies from my stash to cut out several sizes and colors of heart, and then I distressed the edges using Distress Oxide Inks. I also used the cute text block stamp to create my little letter for the envelope. I used the Pink Sparkle embossing powder from the kit for the sentiment.

Card #3: Butterfly Silhouette Card

I love creating my own pattern paper backgrounds. First I stamped the text block with gray ink several times on a pink piece of card stock. Then I randomly stamped the small images from the stamp set over the text. I used a piece of ribbon from the kit on this card and some black card stock for my butterflies and sentiment.

Card #4: Stamped Pattern with Die Cuts Card

I turned the dies from this kit into stamps by cutting them out with fun foam. I then put a few dots of Mono Multi Medium glue. When this glue dries, it dries tacky, and you can put it on an acrylic block to stamp onto your project. You can also reuse these die cut stamps. Make sure you allow the glue to dry for an hour or two before putting them on your acrylic blocks–speeding up this process with your heat tool won’t work unfortunately–I tried. Lol!

Card #5: Watercolor Die Cuts Card

I had a blast creating the beautiful flowers for this card with some Daniels Smith Watercolors and Arches Cold Press paper. I painted the panel first, allowed them to dry, and then cut them out with all the flowers and leaves dies. I love the soft look of these flowers!

Card #6: Roses and Banners Valentine Card

For this card I used left-over watercolor die cuts from my previous card. To showcase the flowers and the butterfly I matted them with two banner die cuts. I also cut out the sentiment with the banner die from the kit.

Card #7: Stamped Pattern with Die Cuts Card–Take 2

I wanted to use the die cut stamps again. I used different colors of Distress Oxide Inks for this one, and I added a dimensional die cut and leaf next to the sentiment.

Card #8: Peek-a-Boo Flowers Card

Copic Markers: Orange Flowers – YR02, YR04, YR07; Flower Centers – YR24 & YR27; Pink Flowers – RV13, RV14, RV17; Greenery – YG61, YG63, YG97

This is one of my favorites from my set of cards. I die cut more flowers using Neenah Solar White card stock, and I colored them in with Copic Markers. To cut out my white panel I used a scalloped die and popped up the panels with foam tape. I used a piece of soft teal pattern paper behind my flowers.

Card #9: Butterfly Sympathy Card

This is a simple card, but I love how it turned out! I used one of the leaf dies to cut out several colors of green card stock. For the butterfly I used more white card stock and my Copic markers to color it in. I cut out this butterfly four times and glued them together to add a nice weight to this focal piece of my card.
