Easy Watercolor Die Cuts Technique | Scrappy Tails Crafts | Whimsical Layering Daisies

Hello, everyone! I have a really fast, fun watercolor technique to show you today, as well as some beautiful new products from Scrappy Tails Crafts. I’m creating with their new stand-alone die set called Whimsical Layering Daisies. For the sentiments I’m using the Oopsy Daisy stamp set. This is one of my favorite stamps sets so far this year because of the darling images and the clever sentiments.

Card One

To create all three cards I first started with some very simple watercoloring. I applied large swatches of color to the watercolor paper–making sure to leave lots of light and dark paint. The more dappled and variegated, the better. It was just fun doing some mindless watercoloring and seeing the pretty colors. I used two different purples, pinks, yellows and greens on each swatch.

Make sure to allow your paper to dry, and then you can die cut out all your flowers, stems and flower centers. You get so many different daisy dies in this set; you can really put together a beautiful bouquet!

To put these cards together, I used some fun cardstock from Spellbinders. The corrugated paper gives the cards an old-fashioned, rustic look. I used three different sentiments for each card and created a set. There were lots of flowers left over, so I used them to decorate the inside of the cards.

Copic Coloring, Easter/Spring Cards, Not 2 Shabby

Easter Wishes Card | Not 2 Shabby Shop

Hello, crafty friends. I have another Easter card to show you today. This one features an adorable Easter bunny, lots of Easter eggs and even some paper Easter grass. The stamp set I’m using is called Easter Wishes, and it’s from the Not 2 Shabby Shop’s March release. The yellow polka dot pattern paper is also from the new release–it’s called Dots for Spring.

I stamped out all of the images from this set onto a piece of Spectrum Noir alcohol ink paper. I started with the bunny and colored him in with Warm Gray Copic Markers. I used flicking motions so that it gave the bunny’s fur some texture. After I colored in all my images, I fussy cut them out.

I used an egg die to cut a window in a piece of dark purple cardstock. Behind this panel, I used two layers of foam tape. I wanted a really deep window for the bunny. Next I attached the paper grass–which I picked up at my local grocery store–using some dotliner. I then attached the purple panel to a piece of yellow polka dot cardstock. I love using the complimentary colors of yellow and purple.

I added a single layer of foam tape behind the bunny and attached him in the window. I glued on the basket and Easter eggs on the front of the card and decided to add some stitch lines around the window using a white gel pen. This added a little more brightness to the purple cardstock.

Easter/Spring Cards, Embossing Folders, Floral Cards, Spellbinders

Fun with Plaid | 3 Spring/Easter Cards | Spellbinders

Greetings, crafty friends. It’s officially spring, and I’m creating three more spring/Easter cards using one of the new embossing folders from Spellbinders. Each card features a different technique using the same cute plaid embossing folder. I love springtime plaid pattern paper, and with this embossing folder you can create your own.

Card 1: Simple Embossed Silver Background

On all three of these cards I’m using new cardstock from Spellbinders. I adore their new brushed silver and brushed gold cardstocks. I embossed a brushed silver panel and added some Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks over it. The eggs come from the Forever Spring Eggs Dies.

Card 2: Embossed White Frame

On card 2 I cut a rectangle from a piece of Snowdrift white cardstock, and then I embossed it. This created a cute frame for my flowers. The floral dies are from the Simply Perfect Layered Blooms set.

Card 3: Embossed Die Cut Easter Eggs

Card 3 is my favorite. I love how these eggs turned out when I embossed them with the plaid embossing folder. I then masked and blended ink over some of the stripes on the white egg to accentuate the plaid pattern. I also added ink to the pink and purple eggs before I embossed them.

Here is my process video. You can watch it here or over on my YouTube channel in HD.

Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful week!

Floral Cards, Spellbinders, Watercolors

Wildflowers & Watercolors Card | Spellbinders | Watercolor Floral Collection

There is a new line of Watercolor Floral stamps in the Spellbinders’ shop, and today I’m creating with the set called, “Field of Flowers.” Of course, I had to pull out my watercolors to pair with this beautiful stamp. There are 6 different sets in this collection as well as a sentiment set, and they are all lovely.

First I heat embossed the image onto a piece of hot press watercolor paper using some black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I love the look of the glossy, raised lines. You could skip this step and stamp it with waterproof ink. The ink I used is called VersFine Clair Nocturne ink, which is a waterproof ink and you can also emboss with it.

Next, I taped it down to a wooden board. I made sure to leave myself plenty of room around the stamped image to tape it down and to die cut it. I pulled out my Daniel Smith watercolors. I started at the bottom of the image with a dark green paint, then light green, then blue and lastly, pink and orange. After my first painting, I allowed it to air dry. The colors do dry back a lot more pale, so I added a second layer of paint.

Once, my second layer was dry, I came back in with lots of different colors to paint in the wildflowers. I didn’t add much water to the watercolors, so the paint went down highly pigmented.

I allowed that to dry, and then I die cut the panel with Spellbinders’ Rectangular Hemstitch dies. I used a piece of leftover watercolor paper to stamp the sentiment on and cut that out into a banner.

I popped up the watercolor panel with foam adhesive, as well as the sentiment. To add a little more interest, I added twine around the sentiment strip and water droplet beads around the panel.

Here is my process video. You can watch it here or over on my YouTube channel in HD.

Easter/Spring Cards, Spellbinders

Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for March | Spring Flowers Card Creator

It’s time to create a beautiful spring themed card using Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club Kit for March. There is no stamping or coloring involved in the creation of this card. My card also features some of Spellbinders’ gorgeous new cardstocks.

I like to cut out all my die cuts first and have them all ready when I start putting my card together. These dies create such fun, dimensional cards that will make anyone’s day. I used the die to cut out some white fun foam as well. I glued it under my paper die cuts to add dimension. You could also use several layers of the dies and glue them together is you don’t have any fun foam.

The colors of cardstock I used are Barely Peach, Beeswax, Peridot, Pink Sand, Purple Mist and Brushed Silver. (See all links below.)

I cut out the pretty die sentiment using some Brushed Silver cardstock. I used this cardstock for the card base as well.

Here is my card video. You can watch it here or over on my YouTube channel in HD.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
