Hello! Thanks for stopping by. I have some fabulous new crafty products to show you! Spellbinders has new embossing folders in their shop! I love creating cards using embossing folders; they provide so much fun texture and dimension. However, the folders I’m using today also cut as they emboss!
The first Cut & Emboss Folder I’m using is called Kyoto, named after a city in Japan. Don’t you love the beautiful fans it embosses onto the paper? To me the look is also reminiscent of the 1920’s Art Deco era with its clean, geometric shapes.
I chose a very pale pink piece of card stock to emboss. To accentuate the design, I blended some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink across the panel with a foam blender. The raised edges pick up the ink and really bring it to life. I matted my panel with a piece of gold mirror card stock to show off the diamond-shaped cuts.
I embossed it again with another piece of pink paper and cut out one of the fans, so I could showcase it on the front of the card. I also added a little tassel with some baker’s twine.
On my second card project I used the folder called Lahaina named after a city in Hawaii. I love all the gorgeous leaves leaves on this folder!
To create my card I used a piece of bright green card stock. I blended on more Distress Oxide Inks to bring out the texture. The colors I used are Crushed Olive, Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers. I used white card stock behind this panel, and I love how brightly the white shows through.
