Welcome to day 3 on the Under the Sea Hop! Click on the hashtag #saturdayunderthesea to see more inspiration from other hop participants. Today I have a fun cartoon slimline card to show you. I’m using a darling set from In Love Arts Shop called Ocean Animals & Mermaid Stamp set. I love the cute way these stamps are drawn.

I stamped the images onto a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I also stamped out masks for the images. I covered the images with the masks and had fun ink blending using some Distress Inks.

I colored in all my images with an assortment of Copic Markers. I keep my Copics out on my desk because I use them so often. Here’s a picture of my messy desk–lol–but I wanted to show you these marker holders from Stamp & Storage. I love them because they have little slots in them to help me keep my Copics organized.

Under the Sea Inspiration Hop Day 2 | Colored Pencil Mermaid Card

Welcome back for day 2 of the Under the Sea inspiration hop! Today I created a mermaid card using a beautiful block stamp that I picked up at my local craft store. I stamped her out onto a piece of Gina K Designs Artist’s Choice Cardstock which is great for colored pencils. I pulled out some Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils to color in my mermaid. I love coloring mermaids, and for her tail I followed the inspiration on the block stamp and colored it in with blues and purples.

I then fussy cut her out, added some foam tape behind her and place her on a velum heart.

The sentiment comes from the LDRS stamp set called Mermaid Treasure. I stamped this using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then I pour on some Gina K Designs Fine Detail Clear Embossing powder. When you melt the powder, it gives a nice shine to the sentiment.

The stencil I used is called Perfect Pool Water from MFT. I used 3 different colors of Distress ink onto this panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio. The white lines left behind seemed to stark white, so I shifted the stencil and added more color.

For Thursday’s card I’m using a darling stamp set from LDRS called Mermaid Treasures. I pulled out my watercolors to paint in the mermaid and the scene behind her. I also used a fabulous die set from Sunny Studio to cut out the window; it’s called Stitched Semi Circles.

I had so much fun creating this card! Tomorrow I will be posting another mermaid card and video and another one on Saturday!
