Arteza Products Review & Floral Card 2019

Hello everyone! I have some fun products that I’m reviewing today.  Arteza contacted me and asked if I’d like to review some of their art supplies. They sent me a 48 pack of their Real Brush Pens. I have the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, which I really love, but I’ve heard some great things about Arteza’s Real Brush Pens. They also sent a two pack of their watercolor pads, a set of bone folders, and three packs of Holographic Chunky Glitter.

2019 Arteza THUMB

First I swatched all the Real Brush Pens onto a piece of the watercolor paper that they sent me. The colors are all vibrant and beautiful, and I really like the names they came up with for their colors. I had some difficulty getting the colors to move on their watercolor paper with a water brush–I wanted to achieve a gradient from each of the pens. However, I found that if I first dipped the pen into clean water and then onto the paper, I could create a nice gradient effect. Also, Bristol Smooth paper is a great paper to use with these brushes. The coating on the paper allows you to blend and move the pigments beautifully.

To color my flowers, I put down my lightest pigments first using this technique and slowly built up my colors. I left a lot of white space on my flowers for highlights. To color in my light blue background around my flowers, I scribbled the True Blue pen onto my acrylic block and diluted it with water and painted around my flowers with the water brush that came with the pens.

I really enjoyed using all of the products they sent me. On their website they say that their goal is to provide quality, affordable art supplies to put into the hands of the creators, and in my opinion, they have accomplished this goal with these products that they sent to me.

On the inside of the card I painted a strip of the same watercolor paper with the Rouge Pink pen. I again dipped the pen in clean water to lighten the pigment and then colored it along the paper until the pen’s natural pigment came out. I then adhered it to the inside of my card with liquid glue.

Card Kits, Colored Pencils, My Favorite Things Card Kits, Watercolors

5 Cards, 1 Kit | MFT Flowers in Bloom | Tips for Photographing Cards

Hello and welcome!! I love it when card kits include art mediums. MFT’s June kit included Color Burst watercolors. This is a medium I never tried before. I had heard of it, but it didn’t interest me. It took a card kit to get me to try them. I had a lot of fun working with these powdered watercolors, and it was mesmerizing to watch them burst into life when mixed with water. The speckled effects you can get with these are gorgeous and unique.

The kit also included some watercolor paper by Ken Oliver. I loved the bright whiteness of it. It reminded me of the Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Card Stock. It was fun to try, but I’ll stick with my Arches watercolor paper which can take on a lot more water than the Ken Oliver paper.

I used many different techniques to create these these cards, but my favorite is the metallic watercolors on black card stock card. This floral stamp set lent itself perfectly for this technique. I love a large floral stamp sets like this one.

At the end of my video, I included a new product I use to take pictures of my cards on. I also show you how I take pictures of my cards for my blog, Instagram and Facebook.

Thank you for stopping by! Links to the products I used are listed below. The MFT June kit is sold out; however, I have links to all the products from the kit which you can buy separately.

Watercolor Card | Hero Arts | Knitting 2019

Happy Worldwide Watercolor month!! To celebrate, I’ve created a card using watercolors and some sweet stamp images from Hero Arts. I love watercoloring; it so mesmerizing to watch the pigments moves around with the water. I’ve recently picked up a few tubes of Daniel Smith watercolors, and I can easily say they do live up to the hype. The colors are gorgeous, and creamy, and dry beautifully.

Two more of my favorite things is cats and knitting; so, this card was a blast to create! I had trouble choosing a color palette for this card. I saw a picture of a beautiful black and pink bird and was immediately inspired–inspiration can come from anywhere.

Image2

I stamped the images onto a piece of Arches Cold Press watercolor paper, and I used VersaFine Onyx black ink, which is a waterproof ink. I painted my images using lots of layers of paint. Once I was done, I let them dry, and I fussy cut them out. However, there are coordinating dies. (See link below.) The image of the girl is so cute how they have her posed. You could sit her anywhere, and in this case, I put her sitting on the edge of the wood frame die cut with her cat and basket of yarn.

I’m going to randomly select a winner. International subscribers are welcome to enter the giveaway.

Thank you for your support, the lovely comments you send me, and your kindness!! I’ve been creating videos for over 3 years, and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. I love sharing with you the cards I create! It’s a hobby that involves a lot of fun products, some basic tools and–my favorite–art supplies. As I’ve mentioned before, I love creating these tiny works of art to mail out and brighten someone’s day!

Also, at the beginning of my video I show of few pictures of my craft room, aka my dining room. I don’t have an extra room in my house to use as a craft room, but the dinning room works out great–I have a really big table, I can work on my cards in between cooking in the kitchen, and I get to be near my family. The down side is we don’t eat in there anymore except on major holidays. I try to keep it tidy because it’s visible when company stops by. I’ve mentioned in my past video’s about the gorgeous peonies blooming outside of my craft room windows, and I wanted to share a little glimpse of those too since they are blooming now! The two book cases on either side of my windows house all my supplies, and in my opinion, there’s nothing prettier to look at than art supplies–well, it runs a close second place to my peonies.

The cards I’m showing you today are from Simon Says Stamp’s June card kit. It’s called, “Leafy Frames.” I love the stamps from this kit, and I had so much fun using the products from this kit to design these cards. Links to most of the supplies I used are listed below.
