It’s time to start creating those Valentine’s Day cards! Spellbinders’ new clear stamp for January includes 6 different hearts–two of which have sentiments inside them–and a Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment stamp. This is a new club kit for Spellbinders, and the stamps are high quality photopolymer. I had so much fun playing with this set!
The technique I used to create this card involves stamping with both sides of the stamp. I stamped out the flat side of the stamp several times with different colors of Distress Oxide Inks. And then I stamped over the hearts using the right side of the stamp. I’m calling this technique “Double-Sided Stamping.”
I’m also using one of the new card panels and envelopes from Spellbinders. This is a cream colored card base, and it’s 5.25 x 5.25. Lately I’m having fun creating cards using different card sized than my usual A2 size cards. Spellbinders has a lot of different sizes of card bases in white and cream, and the price point is fabulous!
The Distress Oxides I used are Candied Apple, Wilted Violet, Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass, and Dried Marigold. I stamped the red heart first in the center because I knew I wanted to stamp the sentiment on this heart. Once I finished stamping the heart with these inks, I dried the panel with my heat tool.
Next, I stamped the decorative hearts over the Distress Ink using VersaFine Onyx black ink. This is a pigment ink and stays wet and sticky long enough to allow me to pour over clear embossing powder. After I melt the embossing powders, the lines of the stamped images are shiny and dimensional.
