Hello everyone! Happy autumn!! I felt it was time to pull out my Gelly Roll pens to create a couple of Halloween cards. I came across a new-to-me stamp company called The Rabbit Hole Designs. I just love these two jack-o-lantern stamp sets called Pumpkin Hair Don’t Care, and Pumpkin Friends. These stamps were perfect to use with this gel pen technique. The lines of the stamps are very sketchy, and that helps to add shading and more interest to the cards.
I am also very excited to announce the launch of my very own Jackie’s Craft Table Glue!! I use liquid glue on practically every card I create, and my glue is a strong, archival quality glue that dries clear. In my slightly biased opinion–lol–it’s as good as any other liquid adhesive out on the market, and it’s cheaper. It’s also super cute with its bright pink cap! Card #1: Pumpkin Hair Don’t Card
On this card I stamped out the image with white pigment ink, allowed it to dry for a few minutes, and then drew right over the lines with some Moonlight Gelly Roll Pens. The moonlight pens show up really well on the black card stock. I also used a few Metallic Gelly Rolls. This card was so fun to create, as well as fast and very cute!!
Card #2: Pumpkin Friends
On my second card I stamped the image with dark brown pigment ink. Then I used an ink smearing technique. All you need to do is put down a little section of ink at a time and then smudge it with your finger. You have to work in small sections to be able to smear the ink before it dries. I left a lot of the kraft card stock showing through because I love the look of it on these pumpkins. I re-stamped my images after I finished coloring them to crisp up the lines–you can skip this step if you want to. I made a mask for my image and then blended on two different Distress Oxide Inks to add a little bit of background color behind them.
