Happy Arbor Day!! I love trees; I’ve planted and adored many throughout my life. This year I wanted to create a card in honor of tree day! I’m using some tree dies I’ve had in my stash for quite a while. The set is called Tree-mendous, and I love the faux stitching around them. The paper I used for the trees is Bristol Smooth card stock. This is great paper to use when you are going to ink blend with Distress Oxides or Distress Inks. It has a coating on it that allows in ink to blend really smoothly without any harsh lines.
I’m using Altenew’s Classy Stripes stencil again–I love stripes!! I applied two colors to each of the trees–first the green, then I shifted the stencil to cover the green and applied the next color. I used two different colors for each tree. I love how bright and cute they turned out.
I randomly adhered them onto a piece of kraft card stock and adhered them down with dotliner–the trunks I adhered with wet glue just because they were so thin and delicate.
There was a lot of over-hang left over. After the glue was dry, I trimmed the kraft card stock with a pair of long scissors. Long scissors are best for this–it helps cut a straight edge.
I stamped the sentiment on a piece of green card stock and cut it out with a faux-stitched banner die. I added foam squares behind it for a little bit of dimension. For a last touch I adhered some sequins across my panel to add some sparkle.
Here is the process video for this card. You can watch it here or on my YouTube Channel in HD. Thanks for stopping by! Happy Arbor Day!!
