Monster Sized Birthday Card | Prismacolors & Distress Oxides

Hello, my friends!  Welcome back!  I’ve created a birthday card using MFT’s Monster Sized stamp set.  This set is the perfect set to use for creating kids’ birthday cards.  I’m also going to create some kids’ Valentine’s Day cards using this set soon.

I colored in my monsters with some Prismacolor pencils.  I’m using Strathmore Colored Pencil paper for this.  I decided not to use Gamsol to blend it all out–I like the sketchy look the colored pencils gave.

Fortunately, I had the coordinating dies.  I’m not the best fussy cutter, and I would not like to cut out these images by hand.  Although I probably should try it–I need the practice.

For the background panel, I created a mask with four squares that I created using a full sheet of my masking paper and my Fiskars Paper Trimmer.  I blended on some Distress Oxides using each monster’s complimentary color to really make them pop once I adhere them to the card.

I wanted to add some dimension to my monsters, so I put some foam tape behind them.  I also used some alphabet and number dies for the monsters to hold up.

I felt my card needed a sentiment besides the HB2U, so I used one of the sentiments from the set.  I used VeraMark ink to stamp the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock, poured on some white embossing powder, and melted it with my heat gun.  I adhered it onto my card with foam tape so it would be popped up off my card as well.  This finished off my kid’s birthday card!  Now I just need to make more for my stash.
