Happy Monday! Welcome back to my blog for another Christmas card for 2017. I’m revisiting one of my favorite stamp sets. It’s called Peony Bouquet from Altenew. Peonies are spring time flowers, but I’m altering them into some beautiful Christmas flowers for this card.
This card consists of a lot of stamping and absolutely no coloring–very unusual for me! I started with stamping the outline stamps. They are gorgeous! You could even just stop there, and color them in yourself–I have created a card like this where I colored it in with Prismacolor pencils. However, for this card I’m going to stamp out all the layers.
Below are the next three layers. First the base color of red, next the darker purple-red color for the shadows, and last the darkest color of brown for the very darkest shadows. Aren’t these flowers gorgeous! The layers are easy to line up, and if you use a stamping tool like the Mini Misti, you can very easily mass produce these cards. I stamped them at the bottom of the paper, and then I turned the paper and stamped them again without moving my images. It’s a great time saver.
After I finished stamping my flowers, I stamped out all the leaves and berries from this set.
I have the coordinating dies for this stamp set which made cutting them out easier, but it still took time die cutting all the images.
I knew I wanted some of the white of my card base peeking through–this helped make the images really pop. I used a new tool to help me figure out and position the placement of my flowers and leaves. It’s called a jewel picker, and I bought mine from Amazon–it’s a very affordable tool. I have the link below if you are interested. On one end it has a small sticky head and on the other a larger one. You can also use it to pick up and apply your sequins or jewels to your cards.
After I adhered everything to my card base, I added some Glossy Accents on the berries and some Spectrum Noir clear glitter pen on the peony bud by the sentiment.
Here’s the video! You can watch it here or on my YouTube Channel.
Thanks for visiting! Go look through your stash of flowers and see if you can alter any of them into Christmas flowers. Have a wonderful week!!
