MFT Happy Haunting Card/Halloween Card Series 2017

Welcome to my blog!  It’s Halloween card crafting time for me.  I don’t usually send out Halloween cards, but there are so many cute Halloween stamp sets out this season that I couldn’t resist.  I’m working with a set called Happy Haunting from MFT.  This image of Frankenstein’s monster and the sentiment that goes with it is my favorite from this set.

I stamped him onto some Neenah Solar White 110 pound cardstock with some Memento black ink.  His hair was the most challenging and fun bit to color.  I wanted to leave a highlight in his hair so I started with my light cool gray Copic markers and worked my way up to the darkest parts of his hair. His green skin was a lot of fun to color too–first time I’ve colored green skin.  For his shirt, pants and shoes, I just used two markers of each color–a dark one for the shadow and a lighter one to blend it out.

I’m using a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock for a background for my little figure.  I stamped out the clouds first, masked them and then stamped out this darling sleeping moon.

I heat embossed the stars using VersaMark ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder. You can’t see them until I blended on some Black Soot Distress Ink–then the stars popped out.  I also used Dusty Concord and Wilted Violet.  For the moon I used Scattered Straw. You have to remember to use a tissue or paper towel to buff the Distress ink from the embossed images to brighten them.

I cut out my background panel with a stitched scallop die.  I wanted the frame to be a little bit darker, so I added more Black Soot.  I popped up the black frame around my background panel with some black craft foam.  I also used foam tape behind my character to pop him us as well.

I used the same die to cut out some white cardstock to adhere inside my card base.  I could have used a white gel pen to write my message, but I thought this die cut was cute.

I wanted the sentiment to be prominent on my card, so I stamped it onto some more Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut it out and placed it in the corner of my card.

There are more Halloween cards to come!  Stay tuned!  Thanks for visiting my blog!!
