Happy Monday, Everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog. I’ve created a Thinking of You card using the hydrangea stamp set from Ellen Hutson. What a gorgeous stamp! I had fun coloring it in with Prismacolor colored pencils.
Choosing the paper for this project was a fun treasure hunt. I finally decided on this beautiful cardstock from MFT called Blue Breeze. I used the coordinating pigment ink for an almost no-line effect when i colored it in with my pencils.
After I finished coloring my hydrangea, I cut down the card so I could add more paper. (Yes, I’m paper crazy.) It’s a blue striped paper to make the dark blue sentiment and the dark negative spaces of the card pop!
Here’s the video showing how I created this card. Hope you enjoy it!

The hydrangea card is beautiful, can’t wait to see the pink periwinkle card. Also liked the striped paper for the back for contrast.

This card is beautiful! I love how the stamping blended in and it does look hand-drawn! I agree the pattern paper really adds to the finished card. Do you have any coloring tips? I know the pencils blend well, but how do you decide which colors should go where when laying? Did you take inspiration from a photograph or were you just able to visualize how the flower looked?

Thank you! I’m so glad you like my card! I did refer to a photo of a hydrangea for this card. I pulled out all my blue and violet colored pencils and colored a practice flower to see which color combinations I like the best. I always like to put in my highlights first so I don’t cover them up too much, and then go in with my base colored pencil–the pencil I’ll use the most. I then use my darker pencils to put in the shadows and add depth. Thanks so much for watching!
